My wife and I heard about the Spring 2023 Club Tasting Event at the Strange Family Vineyards tasting room in Malibu, California, we knew we had to check it out.
Located in the heart of Malibu Colony, the tasting room is surrounded by upscale shops and restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. We opted to sit indoors away from the sun and while we sipped our wine.
As we waited for the tasting to begin, my wife put together a plate of cheese, crackers, and grapes provided by the tasting room. It was the perfect accompaniment to the wine we were about to taste.
Since the tasting was only open to club members, we were able to sample the latest wines in the shipment. The 2022 Rosè of Pinot Noir was the newest addition to the club and I was excited to try it. The grapes were harvested from the Fiddlestix Vineyard in Lompoc, California.

Upon tasting the wine, I was impressed with its brilliant rose color and light red fruit notes. It was crisp, fresh, and fruity with subtle oak and earthy tones that were rich and toasty. I couldn’t wait to enjoy it during a summer barbecue.
As the tasting room began to fill up, a few members brought their dogs. While some were well-behaved, others were not, and the constant barking made it difficult to relax. We decided to finish our tasting and head out, but not before making plans to return in the near future.
Overall, our visit to Strange Family Vineyards tasting room was a delightful experience. The wine was exceptional, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the location is usually perfect for a relaxing Sunday getaway. I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem in Malibu, and don’t forget to stop by the nearby farmers market for some fresh produce and local goods.
